Après-Ski Outfits for Men: What to Wear After the Slopes
The key après-ski pieces, three outfits for the chalet bar and dinner, and a one-bag packing list for a ski weekend.

Après-ski is the best part of a ski day for a lot of people: boots off, a drink in a warm chalet bar, the light going pink on the slopes. It is also the part where you are actually seen. Here is how to dress for it without looking like you came straight from the lift or straight from a costume shop.
The goal
Warm, comfortable and relaxed, but clearly changed out of your ski gear. Think chalet, not catwalk.
The key pieces
A chunky alpine sweater
The single most après-ski thing you can own. A heavy wool knit with an alpine motif reads as mountain without being a joke. Our Le Skieur sweater has an intarsia skier and pines in forest and cream.
A heavyweight hoodie
For the more relaxed end of the evening. Go thick: a 500 gsm brushed fleece like the Chalet hoodie holds its shape and actually keeps you warm walking back through the village.
A jacket that is not your ski shell
Leave the technical jacket in the locker. Swap it for something with more character, such as a down-filled corduroy jacket. The corduroy down jacket is quilted with down for warmth but looks like a proper jacket.
A graphic tee underneath
Bars get warm. Have something good on under the knit. A vintage ski-school print like the École de Ski tee fits the setting.
Boots you can walk in
Waterproof leather boots or snow boots with real grip. Village streets are icy at night.
Small extras
A beanie or a cap, sunglasses for the last of the sun on the terrace, and gloves you will not lose.
Three après-ski outfits
- Classic chalet: alpine sweater, dark jeans, leather boots, beanie.
- Relaxed: heavy hoodie over a graphic tee, cord trousers, snow boots.
- Dinner after: knit polo, corduroy down jacket, wool trousers, suede boots.
Colours that work in the mountains
Cream, forest green, navy, brown and a touch of red. They look right against snow and wood, and they all go together, which matters when you are packing one bag.
What to pack for a ski weekend
- One chunky sweater
- One heavyweight hoodie
- Two or three heavyweight tees
- One non-technical warm jacket
- One pair of trousers or dark jeans
- Leather or snow boots
- Beanie, gloves, sunglasses
That covers three nights of après-ski and dinner without overpacking.
